High-Technology - The importance of Enriched Flours

Published: 21/02/2025

According to a latest screening conducted by NutriAid in July 2024 in the rural villages of Loul Sessène, Senegal, 1 in 10 children is affected by malnutrition.

Enriched flours are a very important tool in the fight against child malnutrition.

Additionally, it is crucial to promote agricultural products commonly available to families.

Meat and other animal products, such as milk and eggs, are difficult to access due to their high cost, but cereals and legumes, which are the result of local agricultural production, can, if properly dosed, effectively ensure a proper diet.

The flours are produced by NutriAid from local agricultural products (millet, maize, rice, peanuts) skilfully blended to obtain high-protein, high-energy foods that can restore the normal weight of malnourished and/or undernourished children within a few weeks.

"High-Technology to Fight Malnutrition" is a project funded by the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers with the 8x1000 Irpef quota.
