NutriAid is pleased to announce the launch of the project "Yessal Napp Gi - With youth for innovative, sustainable, and inclusive fishing in Senegal".
In Wolof, Yessal Napp Gi means "Innovating Fishing," reflecting the core mission of our initiative in Joal-Fadiouth, Senegal’s primary artisanal fishing port.
The project was born to concretely address the socio-economic challenges currently facing young people and women in Joal-Fadiouth, whose income prospects are severely strained by climate change and a fisheries sector that urgently needs new technologies to remain competitive and sustainable.
Blue Economy and Digitalisation
The initiative focuses on strengthening the skills of young people and women through digitalisation and the principles of the Blue Economy — introducing innovative professions and supporting the creation of microenterprises capable of generating income and stability.
The project's strategic objectives:
🌊Digitalise the supply chain: integrate new technologies and digital skills into a strategic sector
🤝Strengthen employment: create vocational pathways and internships for young people and women workers in the sector
🚀Support self-entrepreneurship: accompany the creation of microenterprises
🐟Promote sustainability: spread best practices and digital monitoring systems to protect the marine ecosystem
This ambitious journey is made possible by the invaluable support of Only The Brave Foundation, which has chosen to invest in the courage and social innovation of this project.
