Thanks to the support of Fondation Prosolidar, construction work on the new pediatric ward is progressing at full speed with the finishing touches. This is a crucial facility for children's health and the fight against malnutrition throughout the district.
Guaranteeing the right to health and child protection also means building dignified, safe, and structured healthcare spaces to meet the needs of communities. In Senegal, in the Fatick department, NutriAid's project to build the new pediatric ward in Loul Sessène is entering its final stages.
Once completed, the Pediatric ward will become a strategic reference point for the entire district, offering integrated growth monitoring services, general pediatric care, and specific programs to combat child malnutrition.
In recent weeks, the construction site has come to life with the start of finishing works and painting. The walls of the facility are beginning to take color, transforming concrete structures into a welcoming environment designed with children in mind. The completion of this painting and detailing phase brings us closer to the inauguration and full operability of the center.
The lack of spaces dedicated to childcare in rural areas often forces families to travel long distances or receive assistance in precarious environments. The new pediatric wing of Loul Sessène has been designed to address these challenges through:
- Protected spaces for nutritional programs: areas dedicated to screening and therapies for children affected by all forms of malnutrition;
- Improved reception and care: a management of spaces that will increase the availability and quality of care for mothers and their children;
- Support for local healthcare staff: suitable, bright environments equipped with adequate standards to allow doctors and nurses to operate at their best.
A special thank you goes to Fondazione Prosolidar for its constant support in the realization of this important project.
