Following the positioning of the probes today Daniela, Sardinegal's project manager, takes us off the Senegalese coast, where NutriAid's first biological mission took place together with the Senegalese Oceanographic Reasearch Centre, the Directorate of Seabed Management (a department of the Senegalese Ministry of Fisheries) and the African Aquatic Conservation Fund, a non-governmental organisation specialising in mammalian acoustic recordings.
The aim of the mission was to collect baseline data to verify the environmental conditions of the area and take a sample of seabed sediments for laboratory analisis.
The analysis of this data will allow us to understand the impact of artisanal fishing on the presence of marine fauna.
Sardinegal is funded by the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers with the 8x1000 Irpef quota.
